Plus Size Fashion Designer Sara Simmons Takes Her Throne & Launches Courbes Sera
Chicago, IL - April 30, 2010 - Chicago based plus size fashion designer, Sara Simmons is
launching her new plus size women's label, Courbes Sera, French for curves will be, just in time for Fall 2010 . Sara's collections are inspired by Old Hollywood glamour, her travels and anything that exudes sophistication & glamour, all whilst creating affordable luxe designer wear (pieces range from $50-$500) into pieces that can be worn day to evening, adding a touch of glitz & glam into every detail.
The Fall 2010 Collection can be seen exclusively at www.courbessera.com. Sara's inspiration for this collection was the dark midnight blue skies of her time at San Marco Square in Venice, Italy, infused with pewter and natural tones with a punch of added jeweled fuchsia hues on silk jersey, silk laces, luxe faux furs, rhinestone's, sequined & satin fabrications.
"I want women with curves to feel empowered by what they wear. Sometimes feeling good about yourself starts from the outside in. Women can gain a lot of empowerment and confidence by wearing a beautiful top or a great pair of slacks. This is what I think about every time I design a collection," states Simmons.
Sara is following her heritage, as the family story goes, her distant cousin on her maternal grandfather's side was Norman Hartnell, the Queen's dressmaker from 1938-1979 and founded the famous House of Hartnell in London, England.
Sara is launching her first collection after receiving her BFA in Fashion Design at the International Academy of Design & Technology in Chicago, IL and her MBA in International Business, with fellow alum Christian Siriano, at the American InterContinental University in London, England.
